So much for my summer at the beach! First it's way too hot, then it wouldn't stop storming, and now snow? This isn't funny! All I wanted was a easy trip to Olivine, but no, I've been stuck here in Ecruteak the whole time!

[She turns her gear around to show an Empoleon, Oshawott, Meowstic, and a Sylveon playing in the snow. All but the Empoleon were wearing some kind of winter gear made for Pokémon.]

At least these guys are having fun... Does anyone know how to make hot chocolate that's safe for Pokémon? I think they'd like that after they're done playing.

Huh? Well, you carry yourself better, I guess. And you're calmer, have a lot better manners, and I think you have a nicer face. He just looks way too much like a cocky teen guy. And he acts like it, too. Just like a guy I know back home, but I don't think Rin is as much a loser with girls as my friend is.

I wouldn't really say he's a loser. Rin's... always had a reputation that didn't really make him very popular back home.

Yeah, maybe loser wasn't the right word... Yosuke-kun is a loser, definitely, but still a good guy. Rin is definitely above that, though I think I should talk to him more before I can really say anything else.

I think it's only natural. The Rin I knew back home wasn't very open. He... actually seemed really angry all the time and would cut class a lot. Start fights over tiny things.

That... sounds like my friend Kanji. Yeah, he's still angry, but he's also really sweet. I don't think he can cook, but he can sew really cute little stuffed animals. The angriest guys have some of the best hobbies!

That sounds like Rin, alright. If they ever met, I think they'd get along.

Hmm... the Kanji I know now, he doesn't look like a hoodlum anymore, but the tempers still there! And he's actually a good student. You think Rin could still get along with him?

Or we'd have a war on our hands. The only time I've ever seen Kanji be calm around a group of people for long is when Senpai or Naoto-kun was around. Those two definitely keep him from beating anyone up.

I guess the same can be said for me and Rin. Sometimes. Father used to be able to keep him under control when we were kids though.

I... guess they had their own sort of relationship. While my brother wasn't the most obedient, he did try. At least in a way that father understood.

They do argue a lot but at the end of the day, they'd resolve it somehow and things would go back to normal.

[ Of course, this is before a time he'd ever know where one of these fights wouldn't end up resolved. ]

Why do boys always have difficult relationships with their dads?

They both kind of were a bit stubborn so... maybe that's why they butted heads so often.
