What do you do when one of your best friends here tells you something really scary and painful?

How are you supposed to deal with that?

How are you not supposed to be terrified of them?

Especially when they told you they'd protect you from any danger. When they've been nothing but nice to you, but what they did makes them a really bad person. When they still might be a bad person, but they're trying not to be.

I told them I can't talk to them until I figure things out. This feels worse than a breakup. Anyone have any advice?

I won't say that you shouldn't be afraid of them, if you believe that you have good reason to be. Just the same, there's something to be said for the fact that they told you at all, isn't there?

It's possible that whomever this is has done terrible things, but in that case it would be to their benefit to keep quiet about it. Isn't it likewise possible that they told you because they didn't want to deceive you or lie by omission anymore?

[Teddie slips through the door once he gets the okay and is surprisingly quiet, minding his actions and trying his best to be...appropriate. It's difficult, a part of him wants to rush towards Rise and cling to her as hard as he can, but something tells him that'll get him kicked out faster than he was invited in. Instead he stands by the door, wringing his hands in order to keep his mind off of his usual impulses.]

I-I just want you to know, it's okay to be sad, Rise-chan.

Now is there anything you want me to call you?

[Because call it a gut feeling, but he doesn't want to be weird and just start calling her "honey" or "sweetie" or whatever.]

We'll see if anything comes of it. Oftentimes a desire to be alone simply comes from being alone too long.

I can't imagine being alone anymore. It was a horrible feeling when I was. Yeah, there was people there, but none of them were my friends.

Rise is fine, but... maybe Rise-chan? I'd be okay with anything else, too~

[Because that is a lot cuter, and she'd feel awkward being called Risette by anyone other than a fan.]

[Rise has definitely been crying. She gives Teddie a a very tired smile before she gets herself off of her bed.]

I know it's okay... I've been sad a lot lately. I guess this place really like to build me up, then knock me down.

I know. I just have a really bad experience with people who were really nice to me, and then wound up being killers. Obsessed and possessive, delusional fans, people who just wanted to use me. Then there was the man who tried to 'save me', and that almost caused me to die. I can't get myself to trust people who admit to being killers.

Hearing those things from them just brings all that back again.

I'm not doing this to out them. I'm doing this because I need advice on what to do. I don't want to be a bad person by not giving them a chance, but I don't know if I can ever give them that chance again, no matter how sorry they are.

[She's only comfortable saying all of these things because of how many people had seen her dream, and the one person who could have died because of her dream. There's no sense hiding it anymore.]

I don't like to be alone, either. Not for very long, anyway. Sometimes I need my solitude, but only briefly.

Rise-chan is good! I'll make sure to call you that from now on.

[Oh, crying is not good... Seeing that, Teddie can't help but drop his filters and immediately says the first thing on his mind.]

That's fine, as their identity matters very little to me. Outing people is something I tend to take personal offense to, anyway.

There's a difference, though, between liking someone and trusting them. It's entirely possible to care about someone and not trust them at all, and that doesn't make you a bad person.

Yeah, but that's pretty normal. I like being alone to cool off when this get too much.

[Shes stares at him before laughing softly.]

T-Teddie! You can't do that to a world!

I don't know how I can care about someone without trusting them.

[Teddie would've objected, claimed it wasn't fair. Why could the world do that to her if they couldn't do anything back? But he's caught off guard when he makes her laugh. That's all he wanted, to see her not be sad anymore.]

So how about that hug...?

[Rise's going to be sad for a while longer, but she'll fake being happy. Once she leaves this place to keep traveling, there will be idol smile for the wold again.]

Sure. You can give me a hug now.

Oh. I wish I knew what to tell you...

I guess if you decide to talk to them again you could make a clear line? Ask if he still means it and what that all includes?
